Protection decisions, made visible

The Siemens Switchgear sourcing story

Our work begins where a catalog search ends: at the exact relationship between a one-line, fault study, enclosure and maintainable equipment configuration.

A focused desk for distribution equipment

Siemens Switchgear was organized in 2024 as a focused sourcing and application desk for electrical contractors, panel builders, protection engineers and industrial procurement teams. The operating idea was deliberately narrow: start with the project one-line and return a reviewable selection path instead of a broad product dump. Each inquiry is reduced to system voltage, frequency, continuous current, available fault current, feeder duty, protection objective, enclosure, service access and destination-market documentation.

This discipline matters because familiar labels can conceal different technical roles. Rated current describes continuous duty; interrupting capacity addresses a protective device under specified conditions; short-circuit current rating applies to equipment or an assembly. We keep those values separate, identify the document supporting each claim and mark open questions before a quotation is treated as complete.

Principles used on every review

Exact scope

Series, frame, trip unit, accessory and certification evidence remain tied to their exact references.

Visible limits

Temperature, altitude, coordination, arc-flash and field-modification boundaries stay in the decision record.

Compact output

The deliverable is a proposed configuration, assumptions, missing evidence and next verification action.

Panel builder assembling switchgear

Useful at every handoff

Panel builders receive dimensional, bus and accessory questions before fabrication. Protection engineers see the time-current and selective coordination assumptions. Contractors receive enclosure, cable-entry and service-clearance checkpoints. Procurement teams obtain exact references and a document list that can be quoted and audited.

The boundary is equally important. We do not certify an assembled system, complete a code review, approve breaker settings or authorize energization. A published 65 kA rating may be relevant only to a tested combination. Ambient conditions can require derating, and an arc-flash result depends on the current system study. Final suitability remains with qualified project professionals using current manufacturer literature.

Bring the constraints into one record

A precise sourcing conversation starts with the one-line, study values and installation conditions.
